India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced 2070 as the target for his country to reach net-zero carbon emissions — two decades beyond what scientists say is needed to avert catastrophic climate impacts.
Modi also told world leaders during the COP26 climate summit that India would increase the share of renewables in its energy mix from around 38 per cent last year to 50 per cent by 2030, and called for a global push to adopt sustainable lifestyles.
India, currently the world’s third-biggest emitter of greenhouse gases after China and the United States, had rejected calls last week to announce a net-zero carbon emissions target, saying it was more important for the world to lay out credible pathways to reduce emissions.
The U.S., Britain and the European Union have set a target date of 2050 to reach net zero. China and Saudi Arabia have both set targets of 2060, but critics say these are largely meaningless without tangible action now.

I think it will not be possible to net zero in 2070. It will be achieved till 2100 not before in my opinion for India.

Where did he say 2070? Time line please. He said in one conference India to is people that they have target before 100 years of independence, that is 2047. And we will do it.

India and China have skyrocketing emissions so don’t get excited
He knows he will not be there by 2070 but I haven't seen many planning for the future. That's what differentiates leaders from commoners.
All the climate change proponents are some how silent except some maybe "stern" words which is mainly for show and amounts to nothing. They say alone China has been emitting more greenhouse gases than the entire western world, but yet it is some how the western nations duty to fund it all. The reality is that coal is king outside of nuclear as both China and India know it is the cheapest, time and cost effective way to industrialize, so the world ending isn't a thing for these countries which probably indicates the alarmism is possibly way overblown. As far as countries go many western countries act like they are so green, but in reality they are just offshoring their manufacturing to countries that will pollute more to accomplish the same things. If done in their own country it would cost more and they would have to adhere to stricter environmental standards concerning pollution. Interesting that there is all this virtue signaling from Trudeau and others, but being progressive shouldn't they be funding most of this green initiative from an individual level as they can actually afford it versus the average citizen from their respective nations.

Missed our key part of the speech – 1 trillion dollar climate finding to the developing world. Now China reached the big boys club in carbon emissions, it should also shell out money as well.
