Sadly, the only solution is going back to a more simple lifestyle where 90% of these bullshit jobs don't exist. There is no green tech that is going to allow our mass consumption way of life to continue. I really wish you would drill down further into what climate change really means in relation to the collapse of civilization. It's going to be a hell of a lot worse than trying to find another bullshit 9-5 job to transition into. There are going to be massive food disruptions. We're going to get a sneak preview thanks to Russia's war against the Ukraine. Supply chains are going to continue to crumble. Waves of climate refugees that exacerbation tensions with the locals as their fight over food and water. The water wars have already begun. There is a nightmare headed our way and it's almost guaranteed because even someone as enlightened as you is still dithering over how to protect corporate profits and transition jobs. You are missing the big picture here and thinking that we still have time for incremental change. Those days are gone. I truly hope you look into this a little deeper.

Though perhaps a bitter pill to swallow, I think it's strange that we're so concerned with the loss of a few career paths that we're willing to get in the way of progress. Did the railroad tycoons and car manufacturers lose sleep over their damage to the horse and buggy industry? Would we be talking about how we need to save the poor buggymen from society's need to move forward?
We're right to have evolved to the point where we have social systems and safety nets. And we should always be improving those. But we should let those programs do what they're designed to do– not stop progress to save people from having to use the very programs we're funding.

When industry moved out of Detroit, out of the rust belt, out of American steel mills, those workers were mostly abandoned.
To prevent that level of catastrophic jo and dislocation, the training, which will be needed, and some relocation, also needed from coasts to other areas needs to be backed into the bills promoting or supporting climate change initiatives.
Just like giving vets a chance, the areas generating volumes of displaced workers are, those could include incentives tn engage and train those workers.
If we exercise a bit of defency it could be baked into the change. It could be part of the cost instead of bone cutting expenses with expectations of rewarding shareholders at the expense of taxpayers.

Instead of focusing on people driving cars around or taking airplanes for travel… You need to be discussing the largest problem which is agriculture to feed all the meat eaters in the United States and the world. If for some unlikely reason you have no idea what I’m talking about you need to look into that. You said “I believe in our ability to steer away from eminent disaster”, The quickest and most efficient way that we could do this is to quit consuming meat. I don’t eat meat due to health reasons, but if everyone quits for the reason of global warming/climate change then you would see the biggest contributor to global warming go away, and the consequence is the best option we have at slowing down, or turning around, the climate issue at hand.

This problem isn't going to change until the entire house of cards topples over. Let's say, 20 years from now. THere will be a series of super storms that will utterly destroy Florida, and/or leave it mostly under water. By then, the student debt bubble will be humongously topheavy, AND there will be a much contracted population trying to hold up their forefathers. We will very suddently have millions of refugees, an aging population, and a real estate burst that will make 2008 look like a flea circus. All of this will culminate, I hope, in something so devastating, that we actually get FIX the problem by realizing that money hasn't been real for a long time anyway. Isn't that how it always goes? You don't know what you got til it's gone. We missed our window to be adults about it. Now the kids will just dig in ever deeper…

To perform as advertised the GHGs require "extra" energy upwelling from the surface radiating as a black body.
The kinetic heat transfer processes of the contiguous atmos molecules render that scenario impossible.

I am a leathercrafter. In my opinion, a big part of the climate issue, is what people see when buying something online. A belt as an example on any of the " good deals " online stores is like 5 bucks or so, but it ends up in a buy and throw away mindset, leading to a substantial increase in overmanufacturing crap items with crap materials, for crap wages.
Junk ends up in landfills with toxic waste spreading, workforces that are susstaining illnesses or injuries from a bad work enviroment and lack of proper protection or health care, and it never ends.
Saving a limp bumblebee is not the end to all problems. The issue is way up at the corp ladder, where the money flows to.
