How "green" are electric vehicles (EVs)?
The average light electric vehicle (EV) requires around 200kg of other key minerals and metal this around 6 times the volumn used in a conventional car.
A battery in an electric car e.g. an average Tesla, is made of :
• 25 pounds of lithium
• 60 pounds of nickel
• 44 pounds of manganese
• 30 pounds of cobalt
• 200 pounds of copper
• 400 pounds of aluminum, steel, and plastic, etc…… averaging 750-1,000 pounds.
These minerals are mined and processed into a battery that merely stores electricity, which is generated by oil, gas, coal, nuclear, or water (and a tiny fraction of wind and solar).
For the Lithium componet alone they have to mine/move 500 tons of earth/ore which is refined to make ONE lithium car battery using sulfuric acid, this process burns 900-1000 gallons of fuel (3,700 litres)in a 12 hour shift.
Working EVs first came into use around 1862 using sodium-ion batteries not lithium a much cleaner option as they are basically made of salt.
Sodium-ion batteries offer superior environmental credentials, enhanced safety, and much lower raw material costs than Lithium-ion that we use today.

When you slow a river you lift the water table and the hole area turns into a giant sponge.in dry times this water drains into the river.in wet times the sponge won’t take anymore and you end up with flooding but you would get the flooding anyway with raising the water table by clogging ( beavers ).slowing the flow of water is the best option.
