  1. How ARROGANT FOR US PUNY HUMANS TO THINK WE COULD AFFECT ANYTHING ON A GLOBAL SCALE “
Fact core samples from Antarctica show co2 levels were 1000 times higher hundred of thousands of years ago.
Fact co2 levels are 0.04% slightly up from 0.03%.
Fact plants start to die off at 0.02%
Fact over past few decades the ice sheet over Antarctica has increased 100 feet
Fact using satellite the North Pole ice sheet has increased over the past 50 years.
Fact their is a 509 year cycle where for 250 years temperatures increase followed by 250 years of cooling.
Fact 1816 was know as the year without a summer
Fact 1783 was know as the year without a summer
Fact all predictions are at the extreme ends with the actual changes being marginal at best over the next 100-300 years

  2. The key question is, In whose interests is it that we do nothing? Not the great majority of people. Only those who are enriched by the status quo.
And it's not just a question of guilty individuals interfering with politics,. The entire economic system needs to be replaced by something that feeds us all without requiring continuous massive growth. A democratic economy would be a start.

  3. If governments told the truth they would be thrown out – that's the common wisdom. But what choice do they have? individual actions are pretty useless. Only a total re-education of populations about the dangers we face and a plan to deal with the problems that are going to arrive very soon will allow some chance of civilisation surviving.

  4. The tipping point was the 60's when World Population exploded. Industrialization is the result of population growth. Without people there is nothing to industrialize. I think the Earth's desire to end this current Ice Age is amplified by human activity. The estimated 45 active volcanos under Antartica are not caused by human activity. If you suddenly got rid all coal, gas and oil, nothing will change. Mother Nature makes her own rules. It is already too late. We should focus on a new society and stop fighting Nature. The other thing that is missing is the on-going population collapse. Based on what I have seen, the UN Projections are based a growing population, which is not true. In China alone they will lose 500 million people over the next 50 years. The need for industrialization is crashing. Spain and Italy will lose half their population by the end of this century. In the next 100 years the Earth loses about 4.8 B people. Enviromentalist are not saving the planet. Social Media is saving the planet. No one is going to get married. No one is having children. I am sure Mother Nature is laughing at us saying "No matter what you do, I will end the Ice Age anyway". Thanks for your post.

  5. Can humanity survive a hot green earth or an iceball? We are currently living during an ice age, our orbit is most circular currently vs eccentric and our sun is in solar maximum. We will be an iceball if they succeed in blocking the sun.
Co2 is the gas of life. Life on earth was most diverse when there was no ice on the poles. When the ocean currents stop, earth freezes. Extinction events occur during ice ages. Pick your hard.

  6. I wish I could hold out hope, but I have to be honest. People talk about the world population working together to address our predicament, but we can't get together or agree on anything — from ceasefires to pronoun usage — so I admit I don't have any hope that we'll pull together to mitigate anything that's coming. It will be about adaptation and letting go.

  7. … Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
Sun is the same, in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

  8. It’s impossible, proof of that is in those holes that are methane holes opening up in Russian tundra. It’s already gotten so warm that the earths natural warming cycle has taken over. Even if we shut it all down global dimming from all our vehicles; land sea and air, would cause the skies to brighten driving temperatures higher melting more tundra warming the oceans releasing more methane.

Over production of co2 and deforestation in land and dredging kelp forests in the ocean along with nitrogen runoff has triggered the release of methane. We’re fucked; belay that, were proper fucked. Last time something like this happened 50% or animals life over 2.5KG between 5kg died everything larger than that perished with a few exceptions.

Might I suggest you all read “under a green sky” by Dr. Peter Ward.

  9. Well pull up the video 32 climate change predictions that didn't come true. Yea the climate change has been happening since the planet formed we been a snowball a couple times. A mostly tropical globe during the dinosaurs. Global elitists use global warming as a way to get rich gain power. What a scam

  10. Solutions: Countries everywhere need to create incentives for people to choose to buy local, to grow their own food, to live in walkable communities, to grow their own food, to use wind and solar for their home's energy needs, to rely less on vehicles (any personal vehicles really, whether gas or electric), to use trains and bicycles more often. The list goes on. Countless people worldwide are already living this way. We need to end our reliance on fossil fuels and oil-industry based chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Millions of people already grow their food using nature-guided techniques, biodiversity, companion planting and so on (this goes way beyond simple organic), and getting yeilds 10 times greater per acre than industrial farms. The solutions are out there. I could give you more details. You asked in the video for proposals for solutions. If you'd like to see some of these solutions in action, as far as growing your own food while restoring the local native biodiverse ecosystem at the same time, check out my Youtube page, I've got over 200 videos, and more are on the way. I would also be very happy to present to you, PBS Terra, my ideas in greater detail, and would welcome you to visit my permaculture farm in Canada.

  11. the AMOC shutting down would NOT cause an ice age in Europe. thats simply clickbate. The AMOC is complex system thats true and the gulf stream is part of that said system. The gulf stream however can physically not shut down as it is created by the rotation of the globe. The effects on Europe by climate models show a maximum of 5-8 C cooling. (-8 being northern Norway) so in essence we would be close to the temp levels we had in the early 1900's.

  12. Al Gore has been wrong about everything all his predictions have not come true so he keeps moving the timeline I'm 63 years old and I've seen Summers where there wasn't a blade of grass that was Green when I was a young kid the goal here is to scare you into giving up your lifestyle and depend upon unreliable insufficient means of energy we have like a hundred and ninety nations with their hands out wanting money with this Paris climate treaty while China and India are building coal powered electric plants and are not participating in this treaty so we tank our economy while these two countries pollute away that and the fact that Barack Milhouse bonito Obama bought a 17 million house in Martha's vineyard right on the coast he must not believe in it either shows like this are so phony preaching Doomsday there is no climate crisis from 1930 to 34 was the hottest ever on record look it up stop believing these people that want to make you afraid it's so cold climate change was real they wouldn't fly around on their private jets and then get into their limos at the airport and live in their multiple homes with their massive climate footprint they preach all the time that you need to give up your lifestyle while they increasingly burn fossil fuels they don't believe it you shouldn't believe it stop drinking their Kool-Aid do your homework

  13. I make wine…and am cynical I guess. Humans, IMO have no more control of resource use than the yeast in my must that MUST consume any available sugars until the alcohol levels become lethal to them. So name your poison… red or white. Let's keep dancing

  14. Optimism and hope till the end from scientists I find annoying, we need the world to fight! We don't need people to think well that's not so bad and change the channel for further entertainment.
If we could feed all ruminants (cows, sheep wilder-beasts reindeer) on the planet a handful of Asparagopsis seaweed a day we would reduce their methane output by 95% and could trigger global COOLING…
We can fight this, or we can sit back reassured by the scientists "It's not so bad", "I'm hopeful", "I'm optimistic" and do nothing.

  15. solution: give everybody a carbon credit to buy and consume. Everybody the same amount. Money is an old way of "buying resources". Rich people have more money and that equals heavier pollution, more CO2. We need a new currency that is an equalizer.

  16. Over decades of knowing about tipping points etc I believe only universal education will turn the tide. After teaching from and awesome and wonder perspective/ love for our home planet now I believe the gloom and doom approach is necessary. We have to understand what we stand to lose because we have not listened to the science and engaged in climate action as an emergency. 😂

  17. All of these hypothetical "tipping points" are sheer nonsense. The climate (average weather of a general area over a general time period) is devoid of any metrics whatsoever. Like morality, climate (and weather) has no specific metric. Therefore climate like morality can be characterized but it cannot be measured. If not what is the SI unit of "climate change?"
We have lived in an inter-glacial period called the Holocene since the dawn of human history some 5100 years ago. Human civilization precedes history and archaeological data suggests it existed at least 20,000 years prior to written history and well into the Pleistocene epoch in which glaciers covered half of the North American and Eurasian land masses to thickness of up to 10,000 feet.

The Pleistocene climate "changed to the Holocene climate about 12000 years ago. Humans hunted and farmed and built towns the margins of these glaciers but they thrived only after the "climate changed" over a dozen millennia from glacial to interglacial. In human history we only have chaotic weather patterns like the weather patterns that all but dried out the Nile River circa 2400 BCE for over two hundred years in which the weather did change while "the" climate did not. If it was "climate change" then the question arises of what started it and what ended it?

All of this climate navel gazing is simply a trope for abandoning human liberty in favor of socialist servitude.

  18. Can someone please share the link to the document she cited at 1:23 from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report on tipping points? I can't find it and I badly want to read it. Thank you.
