Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 06 laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations in 27 states and Union Territories across the country via video conferencing. The project aims to boost ‘Ease of Living’ and enhance comfort as well as convenience under the historic Amrit Bharat Station Scheme which was launched to redevelop 1,309 stations across India. Speaking during the video conferencing, PM Modi said, “Our target is that in the coming future, every station will make/produce green energy. By 2030, India will be a country whose railway network will run on net zero emissions.” The redevelopment will provide modern passenger amenities along with ensuring well-designed traffic circulation inter-modal integration and well-designed signage for the guidance of passengers. The design of the station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage, and architecture.
