Life on Earth has weathered boiling-hot oceans and volcanic-ash-darkened skies—but that’s nothing like the climate change we’re experiencing now. In this episode of Crash Course Biology, we’ll talk about the greenhouse effect, learn why our climate is like a tangled pair of headphones, and discover that we’ve understood the science behind climate change for much longer than you might think.
Chapters:
Introduction to Climate Change 00:00
The Greenhouse Effect 2:24
Measuring the Greenhouse Effect 4:46
Carbon Sinks 8:26
Environmental Justice 10:07
Review & Credits 12:09

Phenomenal video
The earth will survive climate change
Life will most likely also survive climate change
Whether WE survive climate change, is mostly up to us, and we're running out of time.
Climate change is real. The problem is those who preach about it, do nothing about it.
CHANGE is better words than warming as in Ireland our weather is certainly not hotter but wetter
Can't wait until Earth becomes Venus with its runaway greenhouse effect.
Earth remembers what you did it to her for your VCR’s, electric stoves, TV’s and your unopened collectible trophies from Star Wars to Barbie dolls.
Earth feels the attacks for your PlayStations, cellphones, EV’s, solar panels, flat screens, diesel engines, and our temperature controlled homes.
Earths biosphere does not care about your blame games, political and religious beliefs. She is appalled at those who dine on meat, dairy, eggs, and marine life.
When the clock strikes 2.5 Celsius, Earth will drown your PlayStation with her tears.
And after FedEx fails to deliver your package due to washed out coastal transport highways, Earth will not care that you are unable to give a one star review to Amazon due to internet being down.
And Earth will not hear your cries over her thunder as you shout, “but we wanted to create economic growth and prosperity!” When the clock strikes 2.5 Celsius.
Hear the words 2.5 Celsius on every Bday, anniversary, baby shower, and the all mighty Black Friday and Xmass season as the fourth fiscal quarter closes.
We’ve committed to 5+ Celsius. It’s a done deal. The sixth extinction has been signed and sealed.
And it will be the extinction to end all extinctions.
Electric cars👎
Please do a deep dive video on the Sixth Extinction. That’s what people really need to hear.
Very important information. Thanks for not making it about the hats 🎩, jolly good, eh wot!
eight billion of any species is going to have an effect on its surroundings
I'm saddened that we're still split politically in the acknowledgement of climate change. We really need a global effort to combat this issue but it looks like it's going to be an uphill battle all the way.
This is such an informative video!
The green house effect was originally hypothesised in the 1820s by Joseph Fourier, some three decades earlier than Foote's experiments.
When European countries developed, all kinds of environmental pollution, such as the industrial revolution in London in the 18th century, burning a lot of coal, European countries used a lot of oil in the 20th century, and then relied on environmental damage and wars with the world to make a fortune to become developed countries, now Africa, Asia, South America, burning coal is not environmentally friendly behavior, double standards, hypocritical people
Thank you for this
Cocuklarim cok seviyor bu kanali ❤😊
Science is sound and we do not need to double check, scientists have very solid peer review going in this regard. Of course, forces who will be impacted by changes we will have to implement have tried to lie, cheat, work around. It is essentially tied to their economical power they have over the world right now.
So it will be a actual fight if we do not want to go into that dark night. This is about overriding hoarding and greed instincts of few for common good of everybody else.
😌😌😌
Great stuff- this is very educational. Really appreciate it!
When is the cells episode coming out???
Spreading lies is not cool
I like him
I though C o2 is what plants breath?
This makes me want to vomit. It seems illegal to destroy our plant, I guess if ur rich enough u can do whatever want 😔
Sooooo . . . explain Mt. St. Helens. That happened kinda fast.
not the furbies 😭
Excellent video on the topic and a great host!
People who make excuses like "oh, the earth has been this warm before" don't stop and realize that humans or the crops we need to survive were not alive and thriving in those eras of hot earth climate.
What I do t understand is why very cold winters are considered weather but hot days are considered climate change.
Someone forward this to Xi!
I knew climate change was going to effect us eventually… But I thought I'd be my parents age before it got to where we are now.
It happened alarmingly fast.
Thank you for your clear explanation ❤
How many times did you fart per person to save others from theirs?
Sammy- love ya guy. But… in the intro you said “make energy”……
Eh….
You've got that 'LeVar Burton on Reading Rainbow + Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson' energy! LOVE IT!! 😍🥰
I see the Lavar Burton influence
US THAT A JOJO REFERENCE
This video helped me get better in my test 😊
What will happen if there's no carbon dioxide
