The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is under scrutiny as a significant contributor to the UK’s carbon emissions, producing half of all the carbon emissions within central government.
With the UK committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, the latest report from the Defence Committee emphasises the urgent need for the MOD to accelerate its efforts in combating climate change.

So suppose civilian cars in about 2060 are all electric and no one is buying petrol or diesel for their car. And suppose Airbuses current Hydrogen result is put into action about the same time so airlines aren't buying fuel from crude oil in around 2080, and cargo ships also get converted to something that doesn't come from crude oil.
If people don't need crude oil no one will be digging up crude oil.
But then the military come along and still need diesel for their tanks and diesel for their ships, and the old fashioned fuel for their fighter jets.
So if crude oil isn't being dug up for civilian use, who's going to dig up crude oil for the military uses?
I think the military might be forced into finding a different source of fuel.
By chance the UK government hitting net zero for years, by cutting back on the number of people and equipment in the armed forces. No doubt the next armed forces white paper will have them fighting on chariots with bows and arrows 🙁
The MoD should be focusing on providing the best equipment and personnel for the Defence of Great Britain and its interests abroad, something that the WOKE and totally incompetent Civil Servants at the MoD have failed miserably at for decades now.
Frankly how STUPID! yeah keep reducing your military what a great idea. Russia and China love that.
In fact stop with the stupid climate bs! WE ARE NOT GOING EXTINCT BECAUSE OF CLIMATE, like NEIL DE GRASSE TYSON says! We adapt and move on. Oil is not going away for at least another 150 YEARS!
Every Expert and economist knows the world DOES NOT HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY to go completely Electric!!! Without oil and gas today people will STARVE! How does your food get to the UK on ships using Oil! Planes oil. Trucks oil! Refrigerators using oil and coal by way of electricity.
MoD needs to get its collective heads out of its arses. Does anyone truly believe Russia or China give a damn about carbon emissions or global warming? While we're all stroking each other's virtue signaling egos, they'll continue to produce carbon and weapons.

Like my troop Sgt said on Active Edge when he found my electric razor (Battery) in my kit, "what are you going to do when the battery runs out plug it into a tree?" So if you have an electric tank do you have to call up a genny or will the tank be hybrid?
