Shadow Climate Change and Energy Minister Ted O’Brien has discussed the government’s decision to ditch its electric vehicle sales target.
Energy and Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen walked away from his “ambitious” and “absurd” electric vehicle target of 89 per cent of new car sales being EVs by 2030.
Mr Bown on Wednesday revealed that Labor “don’t have a particular EV target”.
It comes after his own department predicted fewer than a third of new cars would be electric by 2030.
“If you think of every single target that this minster has come up with, it has been a disaster,” Mr O’Brien told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“I think what’s happened is Chris Bowen has instinctively gotten desperate.”

I don't like the sound of nuclear energy but I think thats just because we only usually only hear anything about anything nuclear when talking about weapons & i think a lot of Australians would think in the same way but if you talk to most people in the nuclear power industry across the globe they all like to think their practices are pretty safe if mannaged correctly. I would like to hope they are correct but i think that fear will be hard to shake especially with such places like japan even finding out the the risks the hard way in recent history during the tsunami that caused a meltdown. I don't know why we aren't just using the coal we already have here it can be done more efficiently than the old 1900's power stations that are falling to pieces right now basically at the end of their lives anyways and going to need to be replaced over the next 20 years.
