Grattan Institute Energy Program Director Tony Wood says state governments have become “frustrated” with the Commonwealth government’s net zero strategy.
Mr Wood joined Sky News Australia to discuss the think tank’s new report on Labor’s strategy for renewable energy.
The Institute is recommending a major restructuring of Australia’s power grid.
“Within the next five years, things get increasingly difficult,” he said.
“Partly because the state governments became frustrated with the Commonwealth government, they’ve been doing their own thing.
“That’s why you see us in our report talking about uncoordinated and ad hoc interventions by a variety of governments.”
