Turning tons of trash into sustainable chairs? Yes, it happened in Bali! @SungaiWatch took action to clean the rivers full of plastic, removing over 1.8 million kg of trash and installing barriers to stop waste from reaching the ocean.
But what to do with all this plastic? They innovated! They washed, shredded, and transformed plastic bags into hard panels. Designer Mike Russek saw an opportunity and created the Ombak Chair using 2,000 recycled plastic bags. Each chair is unique and tells the story of the river it came from.
@Sungai_Design helped make this a reality with amazing design. Sungai Watch not only cleans rivers but also educates communities and promotes recycling, positively impacting waste management in Bali and Java.

Who the f*** is throwing plastic into the rivers
I can honestly say that I have never thrown any plastic away in nature
never in my life and I am 58 years old
maybe some public education would go along way to tell these people not to throw away trash everywhere
A chair that will shed microplastics with every movement but if you cannot see it by the naked eye then it’s not a problem I guess
Also they cpuld do or build walls 4×8 and floors 4×8 and sell then to usa for usr then in mobile homes.
I won't use poison for furniture, HARD PASS
X
is there any idea to use it to build the #SpeakerBoxes .?
#RecycledPlastic
Once they break, you can just ditch them ba k into the river.
to create fish homes.
This is very good idea
Great! That is what we need.

and those chairs are expensive af
When I hear sustainable feeling like I'll vomit
because reminds me Olympics
Awesome
Micro plastics

The rivers ‘WERE’ full of plastic?… and now they’re not…? Hahahahha ok
Mr Beast?
Saving wildlife and people!
That's insane putting plastic in the river!
These are the real hero’s. Thank you so much for helping take care of our planet God bless you

One man's trash is another man's treasure
?
I didn't know that chairs were unsustainable!
Thats cool
Brilliant

well done

India can be a recycling capital of the world with such practices. We got millions of tonnes of plastic garbage all around.
Just stop producing so much plastic
It's all fun and games until they throw the chairs into the river
Reduce plastic use???????
India should do this.
brilliant. compassionate. futuristic now. Humanly possible when heart thinks.
Now you just have to get the people of bali to stop dumping their rubbish into the rivers, its disgusting
Only the rich can buy it. It is sold for 960$
But it's worth it to help protect the planet as much as we can
i wonder who created these trash in bali?
The UNITED STATES NEEDS TO GET ON BOARD… QUICKLY! PUBLIC SCHOOLS, LIBRARIES,PARKS, BUS STOPS,….PUBLIC SALE
… K33PINIT
YAAASSS
to good to make TRUE
And I get these assholes in New York who banned plastic bags at supermarkets. Absolutely fucking ridiculous that we know kill a whole bunch of trees to go back to using paper bags when we could be using something that is much more easily produced, sustainable, stronger, practical, recyclable: plastic bags. Once again, New York and it's politicians punishing the whole of the populace with the ideology of white liberal pukes.

PS- plastic can also be recycled into jet fuel. so why are we killing trees to go back in time 40 years??? Absolutely fucking ridiculous.
We want in india
Outstanding
Bali – dream vacation to meny…with stinky plastic in the rivers
– hopefuly all the plastic got recicled
I've seen a lot of weather-worn plastic chairs used outside degrade and break. Recycled plastic furniture or bricks should only be used indoors to slow down micro plastic generation!
India is not the topmost plastic waste generating country. I don't think recycling alone will help. Cut production and consumption!
1000 USD per unit?!
All that microplastic released during the process does more harm than the bottles lying around!!!
Instead of devastating large areas in forests for timber, we can just make furniture by cleaning our planet
Isso é feito no Brasil há mais de 10 anos, bancos de praça feitos de sacolas plástica recicladas.
