  1. People blaming sinking coral islands on climate change is so frustrating. The water level isnt rising faster in the tropics than elsewhere. Coral islands sink as they age, its a part of their lifecycle. Its a preview of what we might be sble to expect in the future of climate change but water levels aren't rising that much yet, we would notice it globally if it was enough to sink a whole island.

  2. We are done Sam! No going back now because of all of the heat now stored in the ocean. Dr. Hansen published an article recently with a title entitled "More Heat In the Pipeline" or words to that effect. Hansen has data and good arguments that support the hypothesis that a switch to low S fuels has reduced the earth's albedo. About 15 yrs ago the shipping industry switched to low S fuels. In that time the clouds produced over shipping lanes have decreased. Also there has been closure of many 1000s of factories in China. That also has reduced the "parasol" or "aerosol masking effect." The result has been a near doubling of the decadal temp rise. WE ARE SCREWED! Slowing down industry and and the human enterprise in general and the banking industry blows up. Continue bus as usual and the earth becomes as WASTELAND! We are done…we overshot and overcooked the planet. 93 million new cars are being produced yearly. We just went over 100 million barrels of oil consumed daily. We are cutting down tropical forests at 80,000 acres per day! We are trashing the oceans with plastics and these microplastics are now appearing in the flesh of people as the fish we eat are contaminated. The entire ecosphere has been toxified. I'm a retired sci/math teacher living in the Philippines and it's mortifying to walk some of the beaches here on remote islands and see trash everywhere. All you can do is grieve. The natural world will disappear in the next few decades. I'm to the point where I think it may be a good strategy to have more children so some will survive the coming collapse. Dr. Tainter's research makes it clear: collapse is a feature of complex civilizations…billions will die in the coming global famine as our croos fail. It will happen- CLUB OF ROME HAD IT RIGHT.

  3. We should have converted 20 yrs ago. While flying over Italy this summer I was blown away how brown everything was. I’ve never seen it so bad. I thought I was over southern Spain

  4. The man affect of climate change will be the near term loss of habitat for life. The rate of change is beyond the idea that we can adapt. Loss of species indicated we are in the midst of a Mass Extinction Event. Abrupt & irreversible because we keep making stuff to consume!

  5. What's up with all the fatalism. I thought we are socialists and communists. We need to be more radical and partially move past pacifism into sabotage and property destruction. We need to start fighting for system change and a post capitalist world. Don't buy that it's to late. You will demoralise others and just bought fossile fuel Propaganda.

  6. right now we Subsidize pollution ! the only way to change is to TAX all forms of pollution! that is what taxation if for- to control our economy (for instance the flaw of the more money you make the easier it is to make more). then use those funds to develope and make available the cleaner options to the general public. And taxing the rich will also be needed since they got rich on the natural resources owned by the people! d o g p o w e r e d s c o o t e r

  7. RWE will install 6 square miles of solar panels on Colorado's undeveloped public land. This will drive out the native species – pronghorn, eagles, hawks, foxes – so that this multinational corporation can sell electricity for air conditioning in the southwest. Turns out "CLEAN" and "GREEN" energy is just another an environmental disaster. Thank the Democrat governor for this stupidity. Vote for Trump. Maybe we can kill ourselves before every other species must also go extinct.

  8. The world needs to “shut down” travel, as when COVID had most everyone working from home, etc.
The air in India cleared! Remember?

But this solution is too “inconvenient.”
    💔

  9. Not too late for climate change "experts" to switch from CO2 to methane but it is too late to lead by example by giving up their yachts, private jets, fancy cars, and opulent mansions.

  10. All this whining leftist bs about what we should have done! Should we have stopped the industrial development and population growth of the third world back in the 70's and 80's too?

  11. You say Biden has, through the IRA, advanced the disruption of fossil fuel to use more renewable energies.
And at the same time he has admitted more oil and gas explorations than Trump.

I say the IRA is a ginormous green washing project involving most US Americanos.
    Nothing else.

Only the market – we – will force the fossil industry into oblivion.

Maybe too late to save our grand kids.

That is why i am working towards preparing them and giving them the best start i personally can.

  12. Should have been treated the same way as Tobacco. Make it about the Pollution and the Health and Environmental Damage that it produces. A World Class Action against the Multi Nationals, Insurance Companies, Financiers and Governments started 30 yrs ago when I suggested may have helped. We are decades behind.

  13. How people behave depends on how much money they have. The wealth hierarchy is dominated by a select group of 3,194 billionaires and more than 62,000 millionaires. The Koch brothers sit at the top, with a staggering fortune of $127 trillion. But their colossal wealth is far matched by the immense debt they owe to humanity: a world addicted to fossil fuels. The family’s decades-long influence on (particularly Republican) politics has created the world we now depend on. That influence is on full display in Project 2025, a dystopian design for a far-right government that murders democracy and turns the rule of law into a dictatorship ruled by ultranationalist religious figures.

  14. Humanity might be in trouble in many ways, but the planet will be fine. The anthropocentric view and unhinged fear mongering in these comments shows the immature behavior of the extremists leading the conversation, of which basically none are willing to accept even a slight change in standard of living, or even see the hypocrisy leading their lives. So many of you and your reasons for being have been highjacked by politicians that are using you for their own objectives.

  15. We already ran out of time. 9 years ago Greta and AOC said we had 10 years to fix it or we were dead. Well, we fixed nothing, changed nothing and everything is still on track the way things were. So in another year I expect we are all going to suddenly die one morning due to hot air. Western countries aren't even the problem. 90% of the climate change emissions are coming from china, russia and the rest of the developing world. The entirety of the west accounts for less than 10% of annual emissions. Ironically some countries like canada have so many trees and wild lands that those countries are actually net negative by a lot but we are still expected to do more than others to cut emissions.

1990 – "Are we running out of time"?
2000 – "Are we running out of time"?
2010 – "Are we running out of time"?
2020 – "Are we running out of time"?
2030 – "Are we running out of time"?
    2040 – "Are we zzzzzzzzzzz
