South Korea’s iconic dish Kimchi is at risk due to climate change. Kimchi is a fiery fermented food made of mainly napa cabbage. This crop is grown in highland areas amid cooler climates. With rising temperatures, cabbage crop is taking a hit. Experts fear that if matters don’t improve, by 2090 no cabbage will be grown in South Korean highlands. But this is not an isolated case. Across the world, climate change is causing farming conditions to change. From Canada’s Poutine to China’s Peking Duck to India’s Aloo Paratha, many traditional dishes are at risk.
