What a bunch of BS. Adjust those storm damage amounts for inflation and it is just a normal weather pattern. 30 years ago Hugo. Andrew, and all the really big storms decimated the southeast far worst then Helene. The past five years have been very light years in terms of Hurticanes and Tropical storms. Some of the mildest years I can recall in my 63 years and yes, I live in SC, right in the path.
Also, the unrestricted development on the east coast is partly to blame for the dollar losses. Try not building on every square inch of the coast.
Climate change is a natural event. The Earth was once mostly ice. Antarctica was a green climate at one time with trees and green grass. It has been proven that sun flares are cause of most of our weather change i.e. climate change.

Yeah coastal populations have increased, storms haven't, so of course measuring cost will go up with more people and structures. Smh
