  1. 10:15@1254- NYTimes has archived PDFs going back to the Oregon Trail days. A quick PDF browse shows massive 'calamities!: violent storms, floods, droughts, snowfalls, intense heat, intense cold… all before oil and gas.
The Horn of Africa has always been drought and desperation. I watched Dick Cavett 50 years ago discussing an even more horrific famine. So what gives? Shock Journo Clikbait!

  2. They are NOT STARVING. There is plenty of meat. Don't Believe me ~ Think about it and look it up. Mystery Meat is also in the markets there. If they stopped multiplying it would help. Plus, videos show years of the same drought. Nothing new to them.

  3. Which part of Zambia is this lady? Wherever drought was severe, people are either receiving social cash transfer or money for work. Why do people have to exaggerate?
Others are just getting something for vulnerable especially the elderly.
Let's report the truth. Why always Zambia and african. Talk about your countries and always say the truth

  4. Family planning should be the top priority before everything else. How can people keep having babies in poverty? It's shocking to see that woman so skinny from hunger and yet she is pregnant. Why have babies when you are starving yourself?

  5. Same countries during the last few decades, when you told them to have fewer children: How dare you!

Same countries when you want the same fees for carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels worldwide, no rebate for poor countries: How dare you!

They should only get financial support, if they allow the construction of secure zones, into which the developed countries can deport refugees which are trying to move into our countries.

  6. The country needs to invest in post harvest managebt of crops, good bio engineering to feed esp the young ones. The USA has the largest consumers of bio engineered foods and it had never suffered nutritional deficiencies. Second, we need to collaborate as Africans, East African cteies have got alot water and food, can they supply to brothers and sisters ?

  7. The core problem is monocropping, artificial chemical fertilizers and water inefficient crops. I have the solution but nobody is interested. There are crops that grow in most climates, logically when the climate changes, change crops. Duh, get real people.

  8. The climate will always change and always has changed so whats your point? CO2 has made earth 20% greener so that cant be the problem seems more like a solution. 9 times more people die from cold weather than of warm. Poor coutries life expectancy is about 20 year lower than of countries with sufficient electricity so if these news really cared about lives they should scream about more affordable energy to these countries. Electricity leads to improving everything for them.

  9. This has really been a bad year for Zambia. The drought has been so severe, our summer cut short too. The food shortages are so sad.

We hope for the best next rain season.

  10. 1932 or 33 there was a drought as bad as this one in Southern Africa now. 1934 there whas widespread flooding. I am not saying that global warming is not the reason for the current drought, I am saying it happens sometimes. I am not sure even the experts know for certain what the effects of global warming are.
