Want affordable housing in Canada? Is there secret fix to Canada’s housing crisis? Some are starting to say the only way we will have more affordable housing in Canada is to move. Would you move somewhere else in Canada to find more affordable housing? Cities like Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal are all seeing people move away to smaller cities in Canada in search of more affordable housing. Cities such as Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and more have benefited from Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal moving away.

Royal LePage Next Level
My name is Matthew Pfeifer, and this is Bald Prairie Real estate, a Canadian real estate channel. I am a REALTOR® in Regina Saskatchewan working for Royal LePage Next Level. In over 10 years working as a real estate agent, I have seen both ups and downs in the market. But there is no real estate market that you cannot buy or sell a house in. Often the media tries to present a Canadian real estate market, or they talk about the real estate market in Canada as if there is a national real estate market. The real estate market in Canada is very regionalized and local, which is why my monthly Canadian real estate market does not just look at the national statistics, or updates that cover Vancouver and Toronto only, but other individual cities like Calgary, Halifax, Montreal and more. The very local aspect of the Canadian real estate market is why it can be so hard for governments to craft policy for the “Canadian” real estate market. Being from Regina, me and my team specialize in the Regina real estate market and have a much different approach and outlook on Canadian real estate than a REALTOR® from a larger market like Toronto or Vancouver. I cover first-time home buyer topics, tips for selling your home, how to buy a house in Canada, monthly Canadian housing market updates and weekly Canadian real estate news recaps.

Is affordable housing just as simple as just moving?
Exactly very good video
Well explanation
You're getting better all the time.
Buddy. Our population is about to shrink. For the first time since 1867.
You and your warped realtors need to just stop.
Oil traded at -$40 a barrel in 2015. Seller paid buyers.
And wars were fought over oil. Not real estate.
I promise you. Canada is on its way to a housing crash the likes most people can't imagine.
No need to move to another province. Just move 90 minutes West of Toronto to Niagara. Plenty of great properties for 50-60% of the cost.
as long as you have mass immigration and millions of international students coming to canada every year aka alternative immigration system the housing crisis will remain a thing in canada forever
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and providing us with an update on mortgage rates. I hope things will get better soon and the market corrects itself in the near future.
You mean move somewhere colder dont you. Lol
I currently live in Abbotsford, bc. I grew up in North central Regina (but we called it moccasin flats), left in 1987 and only ever went back to visit my parents.
I dont think these BC people would last one winter.
house re appraisal 90% less will save a ton on taxes and intrest at bank
I think what also needs to be taken into consideration is the huge impact the decrease in immigration will have on all the homeowners who have obtained their million dollar homes through fraud (falsifying T4 documents to state higher incomes so they can qualify for the gigantic mortgages they couldn't afford and then stuff their home with international students to pay the mortgage. ) There's at least one documentary on youtube about this. What will happen when these people can't find enough renters to pay their mortgage payments because they don't earn enough to pay it themselves? Either they try to sell or they'll be foreclosure homes I bet.
Interesting perspective!
You will not catch up with construction. Because the problem isn't in catching up. You have to understand that 10 year for developing a condo isnt normal. Elton put up a swath of satellites in space in the same period. When you understand what is rhe problem you understand its not the immigration. In a normal healthy market, this immigration would have turned Toronto skyline into a new york skyline. But our government is f***ing up everything
No, that just spreads the bubble around. I think its called substitution or something
Yea I just moved from Calgary to Sk because it was too expensive from the huge influx of people.
We've seen many Chinese investors leave the market here in Vancouver, but also so many young families in the past few years. Luckily some are staying in Canada, but others have moved to the US or abroad for better quality of life.
