To say that Pakistan was some sort of an economic miracle in the past is utter nonsense. The truth is that Pakistan has never attained economic independence since its creation. All the periods when Pakistan's economy was doing well (1960s, 1980s & 2000s) was because it was getting boatloads of $$$ from the US due to US cold war with USSR and then later due to the two wars in Afghanistan.
