Climate change driving rise in refugee numbers, report finds

The UNHCR report No Escape: On the Frontlines of Climate Change and Forced Displacement found that three-quarters of the world’s displaced people live in regions severely impacted by climate hazards. 120 million people have been displaced by conflict in 2024—double the number a decade ago—with 90 million in countries especially vulnerable to climate-related disasters.
