Flooding in Europe reached its worst level in over a decade in 2024 — with nearly a third of the continent’s rivers breaching flood thresholds. That’s one of the key findings in a new report from Copernicus and the World Meteorological Organization. In Spain’s Valencia region, the damage is still being felt after October’s floods. Local officials are now proposing new defences — but many worry they may come too late.

The state of the climate will surely get worse at least in the next 4 years with Trump in power who doesn't believe one bit that the climate is changing for the worse.
Was it really the warmest year ever? Or are the places where temperatures are recorded that once were in nature now are in more of an urban environment? I believe they call it the heat island effect. So that data is artificially altered just by where they record it in relation to the past conditions. Also, it's laughable to think these climate zealots data is accurate. Even if they could be trusted to record accurate data, the mechanism to do so is flawed. The flooding referred to is a result of building in places that once was not considered to be good places for development and with more concrete forcing more run off rather than abdorbing into the ground , more incidents of flooding are going to be registered. Ya cities should have more green spaces, duh, but then if they were filled with green spaces, they wouldn't be cities . There is a reason cities are referred to as concrete jungles.
Doesnt matter what Europe does if other countries like China arent going to follow suit.

It was that way last year I visited EU – pretty hot. Yes, there are floods but we had it in Australia, too This time around it's pretty cold and windy in Europe. Australia, especially Victoria is quite cold for the past few years. We freeze for about 9 months and get a bit of sun here and there for about 3 months. It also rains a lot. We no longer have burnt grass and scorching temperatures over 40 degrees. It used to be that way in the past. We must look at the whole picture.
