Why won’t politicians save our climate? | Jessika Gedin & Yuval Noah Harari

When it comes to looming climate disaster, are humans as helpless the dinosaurs were in the face of a massive asteroid 65 million years ago? According to the best estimates we have, the cost of avoiding the worst climate change outcomes is about 2–5% of global GDP. This is not an unrealistic amount of money: shifting even 5% of the budget from one field to another is something that politicians do all the time. So how come we’re not doing this to tackle climate change?
