  1. Good points.

I have definitely noticed a reduction in the lawn mowing demand this year compared to the previous few years. I'm thinking worst case, a couple of quieter years might do me good, been so tired recently.

  2. Its been dry here since January Geoff. Things slowed down a lot. But thats ok for me as i have a fallback as you know. For others it will be very tough, & I'd imagine a few of the newbies which appeared will be gone next season. Cheers Mate. 👍😎

  3. Very important to think about weather and how it effects our work. This is why I think all lawn businesses need to have other services available to clients to keep the money coming in during wet / dry conditions. Also makes you more valuable to your clients.

  4. I do a lot of vehicle and equipment maintenance type tasks in the slower growing periods of the year. In summer you simply don't have time. Also all the bigger non regular type jobs in winter to maximise income. But mostly I prepare for spring/ summer. Use the time effectively in winter for a more productive growing season. Also contracts from commercials, agreed cuts per year is helpful. The residential customers will push out those intervals and it's hard to blame them, when I started I was too reliant on the unreliable customers and winter hurt. Now I just use those customers for extra. So as Geoff said, bottom of the pile. They don't get priority, but they help to make a productive spring/ summer.

  5. Great post Geoff
A long time ago when I started working an old Italian gave me some life advice- stay away from the people who bring you down, trust your gut instinct & never fall for the trap that things will just get better

  6. Good work Geoff , I’m in rural SA and we have quite a few contractors given the population is fairly low . It’s interesting that the ones that are well established are older blokes like Me . We have some really nice young blokes starting out and I hope they can wether the oncoming dry . You get a feel for the ones that are going to make it and the ones that won’t . I watch most of your videos and think you’re a great font of knowledge . Keep up the good work 👍
