Bestselling author Alex Epstein reveals the reason behind the 2050 net zero obsession.
Mr Epstein’s comments come as Energy Minister Chris Bowen has claimed Australia’s transition to net zero energy –which it plans to do by 2050, will only cost $120 billion.
The Coalition meanwhile are pushing for more green energy investments by talking up nuclear energy reactors.
“The reason they are so obsessed with eliminating our impact on climate is they believe that human impact on earth is a bad thing,” Mr Epstein told Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi.
“It’s this immoral thing, and we should eliminate it at all costs, and that mentality is what leads net zero to have such catastrophic costs.
“And the advocates don’t care.”

It's actually hard to take anyone seriously who uses the term 'Net Zero' regardless of political affiliation. It's a ridiculous completely unscientific concept. Can never possibly be achieved other by perhaps the complete extermination of the human race. Even then, not till everyone has completely rotted away.

So with a population of 25 million why is Australia being forced into renewables

Believe our impact is a bad thing. Ask any victim of an extreme weather event resulting in floods, bushfires, prolonged extremely hot days, prolonged droughts, crop failures etc. Are these so bad, because if we dont act it will get worse.

In 2050, carbon in the atmosphere will be higher then it is now, no matter we do in Australia. And guess what, there will be no difference in the climate. Total climate disaster will still be 10-12 years away, and western countries that have continued to pursue greeny agendas will be living in poverty still struggling to achieve the unachievable
All the trillions spent on “net zero” would be better spent on learning how to adapt to changing climate and weather (which isn’t really changing – it’s all a lie).

Net Zero is a great goal, but as he says its the fixation with net zero at any cost (and the current cost is huge), what this guy says is very wise. Lets take the time to THINK a bit, come up with some sort of realistic plan? The issue is not what they want to achieve, its the method, the current method seems to be like hunting a fly with a bazooka, leaving devastation and misery in its wake. Lets just be realistic and dare I say conservative so that every step is sustainable and dont set deadlines that are unrealistic when there are too many unknowns. Lets just work together instead of the governments of the world painting everyone as climate deniers. Give us sensible plans and we will all be on board, make our live hell and we cannot be on board, we have children to protect and raise and the current apprach is making their future look rather grim.
I mean if you want some nuclear here, then lets start where we already have one, Lucus Heights. Some small modular units that can be setup far quicker. I mean Step 1 is is to convince the majority of the population here of the benefits. From there onto replacing the gas peaker plants.
The really big installations are like years to get through all of the planning/ objection caper. Then there is the time required to actually build one.
2023 was the hottest year ever yes. So much for all the money and effort thats been spent up to on net zero.

If C02 was actually a problem the first thing the WEF would do is abolish its annual meeting in Davos which attracts over 1000 private jets and uses loads of helicopters. They won't so neither should anyone else be concerned.
